Movement, Strength and Education:
At Ambition Athletics we believe that movement is the basis for all other qualities gained through training. Second to building a solid basis of movement, flexibility, mobility (or whatever you may call it) is strength. When done properly, building strength can help you to move better aleviate pain and improve your abilities outside of the gym whether that is participating in a sport or working hard around the house. Finally, comes education. At Ambition Athletics you will be coached. This means you will have the opportunity to learn what works best for you and why you are doing what you are doing. Although doing a bunch of “stuff” can make you feel tired, we want to give you more than that. All of our coaches are consistently continuing their education by attending seminars, reading, etc and trying to make themselves better every day. Some coaches are even leading seminars around the world and writing books/articles regularly.
Working With Beginners:
Over the years we have had people of all ages, either completely new to or very inexperienced in training come through our door. We see this as a great opportunity to teach and really change lives. Our coaches have developed a passion for working with beginners because of this and at the same time seen great results. The reason for that is our programming. Everything that we do is focused on progression. No matter your current skill level, we will meet you where you are by finding an exercise variation that is safe and effective (see appropriate) for where you are now. When you are ready we will teach you the next progression and help you continually get better each step of the way.
The membership at Ambition Athletics is approximately 60% women. This wasn’t necessarily the plan from day 1, but has been the case for a number of years. What has been the plan is to cultivate a community that sets each person up for success. Many of these women are impressively strong, but it’s important to note that each of them has put quite a bit of time, effort and trust into the system. Everyone has to start somewhere and rarely is that at “the top”. There are plenty of men training at Ambition, but at any given time you may look around and see more women than men in the gym. No matter who it is, you can expect to see strong people using great form. And don’t forget, it’s not where you start, it’s where you finish.
Strength Training- Kettlebells and Bodyweight:
Ambition Athletics is Southern California’s leader in kettlebell training. All of our coaches have various levels of kettlebell certification. The once piece of equipment we have the most of is also the kettlebell. Whether you are an athlete or someone that wants to feel better and look good naked, we will teach you how to get the results that you are looking for. Truth is, some tools are better for certain jobs whether it’s a kettlebell, barbell, or the use of your own bodyweight. We use a wide variety of strength training tools in an effort to get you unmatched results.
Muscle Balance and Postural Correction:
In today’s high tech society most of us sit too much. Plain and simple. We like to make each individual aware of their specific needs, but from a general perspective, most of us need to mobilize our hips and thoracic spine. Everyone that walks through our door will be taught how to use and strengthen the glutes and lats. These two simple things can solve a lot of problems related to posture and pain. Again, it all comes down to movement and it’s quality.
